History Farce Fanfic and Other Submissions

Writer at Work

Tell me about your Character…

No really do… The first works I have undertaken for Kittiwake Classics are the stories of the sample Characters from the History Farce games but I still need help getting out the kind of volume of cheap history porn out there to give hope of a decent profit.

That’s where you, the fans, come in. Tell me about the Characters you are playing in the History Farce games. If you fancy writing up their exploits in the literary form of your choice (I’m favouring mock shock journalism and autobiography, you can however try a more traditional form) I welcome all submissions of whatever length and subject to my own and my proof reader’s editing.

If you have stories of any length or ideas for good ones please email me at the address given in the back of any of the History Farce books.

If you have any other ideas for Kittiwake Classics again, email me, or if you don’t have my email comment here.

I will of course ensure published authors get a fair chunk of any profits.

Thank you.

Opinions- A Very Different Christmas Carol

The book that started the whole sorry affair

I’ve had this idea of reimagining classic novels, particularly the works of Dickens, to provide a different spin on their “moral” message.

The first would be A Christmas Carol

Take that scallywag!

Ah yes, the story of how a grouchy evil old miser is reformed and shown the true spirit of Christmas, right?

Well no actually I think there is another side to old Scrooge. Dickens intended him to be the villain who finds redemption in the “spirit of Christmas.”

Leave aside that Christmas is an entirely manufactured celebration with very little to do with ANY religion and consider this… Scrooge is a victim in a nightmarish dystopia of conformity.

Awwwwwwwww!

Yes kiddie (or in the Muppet version bunny) kicking Scrooge is a victim!

How did I come to this conclusion? Because, like him, I’m a high functioning autistic.

Let us consider Scrooge’s early life. He quickly becomes obsessive with maths and accounting and works so hard that he chooses to stay at school rather than celebrate holidays (all holidays not just Christmas) with his family.

Going into the world of world he becomes as his boss Fezziwig puts it “the greatest financial mind in the city” but still his typical autistic tendencies toward excelling in his field above all else. Whilst Fezziwig throws extravagant parties wasting all of the money Scrooge has worked so hard to manage Fezziwig laughs it off and introduces him to Belle.

Ah yes… Belle… a “human” side to him.

Actually wrong again: Their meeting is forced, their relationship is the result of societal pressure on Scrooge and she eventually breaks with him because she doesn’t accept his driving passion.

Sounds to me like a textbook Aspergers “relationship.”

Ah you say… but… Scrooge is “reformed” is he not? Well only through emotional blackmail of 3 of malicious spirits that wouldn’t be out of place in a Japanese horror film. In fact come on Japanese horror directors, I want to see your excessively gory and inappropriately sexualised Christmas Carol.

Bring it on!

Anyway back to the point Scrooge has his unhappy Childhood and his forced “relationship” brought up by creepy kiddie spirit, then shown useless underling’s crippled kid and his own sick sister before finally being shown not only cute crippled kid’s death but his own.

Emotionally stable people would struggle not to break under that kind of pressure.

So in conclusion we have a poor hardworking autistic man forced into what he has always considered “pointless frivolity” by a society that demands you conform to their idea of “community.”

Bah humbug to that!

Spotlight- The Scandal Sheets of Miss Sally Sill

It gets saucier that this!

Despite causing a real sensation in her day Miss Sally Sill is somewhat forgotten in the eyes of history.

The Prudish Victorian “moralists” did all they could to suppress the frank, uncensored interviews conducted by this pure and noble Christian girl with many of the most notorious Courtesans of her age talking of themselves and their dear departed “Sisters.”

Ironically it is thanks to the hypocrisy of one: a Lady Cecilia LeMonte that our Directing Editor Mr Warner has uncovered the complete set. It seems Lady LeMonte was all too happy to read these stories however “filthy and unholy” she proclaimed them to be. To hide the shame of possessing such material she buried them in an undisclosed location that Mr Warner was able to uncover almost 200 years later.

The interviews are in the process of restoration. With sketches by artists Franz VonStuker and Chloe Havelock reimagined by Warner’s regular artist Raven Morrison illustrating the covers this novella sized series shall be the first priority of the company.

Be sure to collect all of The Scandal Sheets of Miss Sally Sill!

Scandal Sheets- Miss Sill’s Introduction

Hattie Swan (nee Harker) the first of the ladies profiled by Miss Sill

So many authorities both civil and religious have tried to stop the publication of these interviews or at least moderate their frankness. I maintain dedicated to free speech regardless of the uncomfortable truths and shocking revelations these Interviews put forth. I believe it is my Christian duty to reveal this underworld in all its ugliness and no threat of civil or criminal proceedings will dissuade me.

In Faith
